Cowichan and the Stamp River – Fishing Report
Posted by admin on Jan 23, 2012 in BC, fishing, fishing report, news, steelhead | Comments OffThe Cowichan River, we have been fishing daily and the river levels are almost perfect and the fishing has been very consistent. The weather report for the next week is calling for periods of rain and sun, which will help to keep the water from becoming crystal clear and maintain that steelhead green colour. The fishing pressure has been moderate,
focused on the lower river mainly below Stoltz to Sandy beach.
I have a last minute deal starting Tomorrow January 24th to the 27th, as the group that booked me has postponed. So, if you are interested in Steelheading the Stamp and Cowichan river for three days, the last minute deal is $850/3 days for 2 anglers. Call me at 250-218-1087 if you would like to take one or more of those days!
The Stamp river levels have been on the low side, and clear. The fishing however
has also been very consistent with slightly more fish in the system than there was in December. The lower river has definately seen more fish in January than December, it looks as though the bulk of the run will be in February this year, which will be excellent for late Winter Steelheading and early Spring Steelheading. The fishing pressure has been low (except the falls pool), expecially in the Upper river. The Conservation Officers have been ticketing poachers all over the river this year! Fantastic.
