Where’s Johno? Duncan’s a No-Show at North Island All Candidates Meeting.

| April 13, 2011

Today,  I attended the all-candidates meeting for the North Vancouver Island riding.  Except the person I came to see… wasn’t there.  That’s right, the man that I helped to elect last election was not at the all-candidate meeting, his seat simply sat their empty.  All I can say to Mr. John Duncan is: You embarrass me.  That’s right, I am embarrassed that I voted for an individual that doesn’t have the dangly’s to show up to the meeting today.  I believe that if you represented me in government then you should at the very least show up to account for yourself when running for re-election!

All candidates meeting was standing room only

I went to the Halibut allocation meeting last month after hearing that Duncan would be there to support us, but Duncan totally dropped the ball by, you guessed it, not showing up to the well attended allocation meeting.  Even though other Conservative MP’s on the island had gone to the meetings in their ridings!  Duncan has a habit of doing that, when the going gets tough, hide in the closet.  Way to go John Duncan.

Signed an embarrased Conservative,

Ian Barker

I feel the same. The wife and I didn’t think he was going to show, and we were right. It is pretty sad when the encumbent is to embarrassed to show his face at an open meeting. Says a lot about the way our government is run.

I firmly believe that if you have represented me in government, then you should go to these types of meetings and be accountable. You are right Pete, It is pretty sad that the candidate-elect can just blow-off an all-candidates meeting that was PACKED with VOTERS, yet all the other party candidates were there and taking it very seriously. The reason this makes me so mad is because I’m a Conservative!

John Duncan here is the definition of democracy:

Democracy is a form of government in which all citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. Ideally, this includes equal (and more or less direct) participation in the proposal, development and passage of legislation into law.

Democracy: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

John Duncan, this is not what Democracy is:

    Aristocracy:
    1. a class of persons holding exceptional rank and privileges, especially the hereditary nobility.

    2. a government or state ruled by an aristocracy, elite, or privileged upper class.

    3. government by those considered to be the best or most able people in the state.

    4. a governing body composed of those considered to be the best or most able people in the state.

    5. any class or group considered to be superior, as through education, ability, wealth, or social prestige.

Duncan, stand-up and be held accountable stop politic’ing and do the job that we elected you to do, go to the meetings and take a stand on what you actually believe and let us the voters decide your fate. That’s democracy.
